Post 176: Chit, chit, chit, chit, chittin - grow a little spud for me

Here's my first earlies which I've put on the window sill to chit. Since I've put them on there we've had a dusting of snow twice.

So, there's not been a great deal of chitting action going on. We can but hope, there's plenty of time yet.

I've got my second earlies and main crops awaiting their chitting. My hope is to grow enough not to need to buy any extras through the summer - we'll see how this gets on. Confidence isn't high....

  1. Have more faith - 1st and 2nd earlies and main crop - you'll have loads.

  2. Thank you so much for coming by my blog VegBoxBoy and leaving your experiences of a Veg Box. It was really most appreciated and I am going to give it some consideration.

I no longer have an allotment plot, so am planning to grow some potatoes in large pots. Not large quantities of course, but the satisfaction of growing and eating your own just cannot be compared.

You also mentioned that you've not had much opportunity to cook creatively with Jerusalem artichokes, well if you come on by again you will see a few recipes i've made with the trumphet of a veg.

Once again Thank you for your comment. I did really appreciate your time.

  3. Choc: As a show of confidence, I'm going to stick with the 10 item bag, rather than swap onto the one that guarantees me more spuds.

Mangocheeks: That's a very nice comment, thank you. I have dropped by your blog in the past, because I'm interested in growing things (and eating them) - I like it, it's a nice one. I've just never commented before; but VegBoxes seem to be my specialist subject as it were.
